Blood Orange & Kumquat Sangria
Serves 4-8
2 Bottles Sauvignon Blanc, chilled
1 C Fresh Blood Orange Juice (4-6 Blood oranges depending on size)
1 C Sugar
1 C Water
1 C Triple Sec or other orange liquor
4 Blood Oranges, 3 segmented and 1 sliced
1 Pint Kumquats, sliced
1 Lime, sliced
Make simple syrup:
Bring 1 C water with 1 Cup sugar to boil in a small saucepan. Let cool. (Make sure you bring the syrup to a full boil, this is how you know all the sugar is dissolved)
Make Sangria:
Segment and slice blood oranges and add to a large pitcher. See “Segmenting Citrus”
Slice kumquats and limes and add to the pitcher.
Pour in simple syrup and brandy.
Cover and chill for at least 4 hours and up to overnight.
When ready to serve, add both bottles of wine. Stir and serve chilled in wine or other bar glasses.
