Blood Orange & Kumquat Sangria

Blood Orange & Kumquat Sangria

Serves 4-8

2 Bottles Sauvignon Blanc, chilled

1 C Fresh Blood Orange Juice (4-6 Blood oranges depending on size)

1 C Sugar

1 C Water

1 C Triple Sec or other orange liquor

4 Blood Oranges, 3 segmented and 1 sliced

1 Pint Kumquats, sliced

1 Lime, sliced

Make simple syrup:

Bring 1 C water with 1 Cup sugar to boil in a small saucepan.  Let cool.  (Make sure you bring the syrup to a full boil, this is how you know all the sugar is dissolved)

Make Sangria:

Segment and slice blood oranges and add to a large pitcher. See “Segmenting Citrus

Slice kumquats and limes and add to the pitcher.

Pour in simple syrup and brandy.

Cover and chill for at least 4 hours and up to overnight.

When ready to serve, add both bottles of wine.  Stir and serve chilled in wine or other bar glasses.
