What a great story. Everyone should have an Aunt Vicki. Interesting the connections we make over and about food. It also reminded me that your Great Grandmother Nana used to make homemade applesauce from apples she got from the wonderful apple tree on your Grandmother Dottie's property - which was, of course, the property where your Dad grew up. I mostly remember the apple tree because we sat up there and read and ate our lunch just about every day in the summer when I visited. Makes me want to get a bushel of apples and get out my food mill!
